The 600 News pencil has a bit of a cult following. Made for marking on newspaper, it has an exceptionally dark, thick, slick core and is popular for drawing and also for marking up sheet music. It's un-graded, but we'd peg it as being close to a 4B. One thing to note: be sure you are using a sharp sharpener with this guy, it is a little fragile!
Shelbyville, TN was once known as “Pencil City,” as many pencil companies set up shop there in the early 20th century, due to the close proximity to an ample supply of red cedar. Now, there is only one remaining: our beloved Musgrave Pencil Company, which was founded in 1916. Family-owned and still making many of their famed heritage models, Musgrave is thriving as they re-invent what the American pencil can be in the 21st century.
