We'd go as far as stating that this item, the Swingline 747 Stapler, is in the Top 5 of historically important American office supplies. As far as top-loading staplers go, this is the ONE. It's an extremely nostalgia-inducing object but it's also highly functional and takes S.F. 4 staples (the standard American staple size).
Swingline was founded in New York City in 1925 and is credited with inventing the first top-loading stapler, which quickly became the industry standard. Its most popular model, the 747, was introduced in 1968 and is still made to the same specs today!
Fun fact: Swingline’s founder, Jack Linsky, emigrated with his family to New York from northern Russia in 1904. They resided on the Lower East Side, which is where our shop is located, where his father was a fabric salesman and Jack worked at a stationery shop.
This stapler takes S.F. 4 staples (the standard American staple size). Note: This stapler does not come with any staples.
