The Mitsubishi 9000 pencil was first introduced in 1950, as the company's first premium writing pencil. Its design and quality have remained unchanged, with its signature green finish and hard, smooth core. Keep in mind that Japanese HB pencils run a little softer than American #2's.
Mitsubishi Pencil Company (which is unrelated to Mitsubishi, the conglomerate), was founded in Tokyo in 1887 as the first Japanese pencil manufacturer. Though they’re still known for their quality pencils, Mitsubishi also makes a full range of highly innovative pens under the brand Uni, which stands for “Unique."
