Pencils are inexpensive. And they're useful. These are the two reasons why we get a LOT of Secret Santa shoppers in our shop every holiday season. Secret Santa gifts are great because they take the pressure of buying gifts for everyone in your office or group but also add on the extra stress of finding the best one (it's not a competition, guys). Need to find a gift under $10 or $20? You've landed in the right place.
The key with shopping for a Secret Santa gift is to find something that they person will actually want but also something a little bit silly and fun. Maybe you don't know who the recipient is, which makes it even harder to find the right thing. There are lots of ways of doing a Secret Santa (or a White Elephant--No Smoking cigarette pencils, anyone?).
Here are the things we recommend keeping in mind when shopping for a Secret Santa:
1. Is it universally appealing (in case you don't know your recipient at all/not very well)
2. Is it useful?
3. Is it unique?
If all else fails, it's always a good idea to just pick something that's really fun. Like these. Or these.
A few good standbys:
1. A pencil and eraser combo
a. The CDT eraser and pencil set make an excellent pair.
b. For the minimalist, this pack of MD Paper pencils (so smooth!) and this eraser are a sure bet.
c. If you're giving to a writer, our Editor pencil and a precise eraser are perfect.
d. In case you really don't know what to do, these marbled pencils are cheap and pair nicely with this sharpener.
2. A pencil and a notepad ( a little less of a commitment than a proper notebook, because let's face it, we're all notebook snobs.)
a. This notepad is a fan favorite, pick any pencil to match! (psst..I'd pick this one)
b. Keep it utilitarian and American made with this ledger (great for lists) and a Jersey City made pencil.
c. For sometime extra cute, this Shorthand pad is great with the pink Futura pencil.
3.f A sampler. These are great if you know your recipient because then you can just pick based on line of work or interest and we'll do the rest of the work. Crossword Sampler, Left-handed Sampler, Pencils for Pen Lovers Sampler, Notes and Notating Sampler, Woodworking Sampler, Deep Cuts Sampler, Jumbo Sampler--we've got you covered.
Okay! You're all set to get the best-ever pencil Secret Santa gift. We'll even wrap it for you. And if you're buying for someone extra tricky, give us a shout at firstname.lastname@example.org or come by the spot and we'll sort you out.
