CWPE Bugle 1816 Pencil - #2
This product is currently sold out.
The Bugle is as simple as they come with its minimally finished barrel and solid #2 graphite core. Round pencils tend to be hard to come by these days and this pencil is not only round but is also reminiscent of the round, unfinished pencils once made by John Thoreau and his son Henry David (yes, that Henry David Thoreau).
This particular Bugle is one Musgrave made especially for us, to honor what is one of our simplest, best-selling, all-time favorite pencils. Made from two contrasting slats of wood and stamped with gold foil, this wacky version of a classic reminds us of the black and white cookies our wonderful city of New York is known for.
Musgrave Pencil Company is based in Shelbyville, TN and was founded in 1916 during the heyday of the American pencil industry. The pencils they make today feature especially nostalgic designs, many of which have remained unchanged for many decades.
*The location of the stamping on these pencils varies. See the reference photo for examples.

We measure the characteristics of the pencils we sell against a General's Semi-Hex #2, which is the pencil we consider to be a good quality pencil of true HB/#2 hardness, similar to that of most American #2 pencils. The swatch in this product listing reflects that.
