Can you tell that these pencils were first introduced in 1966? Yep, and much to our delight, the packaging hasn't changed since! The Hi-Uni is perhaps the most premium pencil manufactured today in Japan, and it comes in the widest range of hardnesses on the market, from 10H - 10B (that's 22 grades!).
From the finish details to the gorgeous cedar casing, this pencil an exceptional writing instrument. They're intended for drawing, but we love them for writing just as much. You'll notice that the softer the pencil gets, the thicker its core is. This is because softer pencils are more fragile and are more supported by a larger core!
Mitsubishi Pencil Company (which is unrelated to Mitsubishi, the conglomerate), was founded in Tokyo in 1887 as the first Japanese pencil manufacturer. Though they’re still known for their quality pencils, Mitsubishi also makes a full range of highly innovative pens under the brand Uni, which stands for “Unique”.
