The equivalent of an American test scoring pencil, the Japanese style of "mark sheet" pencil is designed for use on standardized tests and other documents that are read by a computer. This version by Mitsubishi is graded as an HB but feels a little softer and a little slicker.
Mitsubishi Pencil Company (which is unrelated to Mitsubishi, the conglomerate), was founded in Tokyo in 1887 as the first Japanese pencil manufacturer. Though they’re still known for their quality pencils, Mitsubishi also makes a full range of highly innovative pens under the brand Uni, which stands for “Unique.”
