This is really, truly an exceptional set of pencils. Irojiten means 'color encyclopedia' in Japanese. Making up Tombow's color encyclopedia are three sets of three books of pencils, 90 colors in total. This is the third edition, curated to reflect the contrasting hues of a seascape. This edition contains Volumes 7-9. Vol. 7 is fluorescent colors, Vol. 8 is very pale tones and Vol. 9 is dull tones. Each pencil is cleverly named and beautifully designed.
Tombow was founded in Japan by Harunosuke Ogawa in 1913. The brand is widely recognized by their dragonfly logo, as Tombow means 'dragonfly' in Japanese.
