In Japan, it's common practice to use a softer pencil to learn to write. It makes sense--a softer lead requires less pressure and a lighter grip to make a mark. Kita-boshi took it to the extreme with their new Beginning Pencil which is a 10B (the softest grade on the market!). Since it's extra soft and fragile, it comes with its very own plastic point protector. Recommended, obviously, for beginners, but also for adults who prefer an ultra buttery lead.
