Designated for office use, this smooth #2 pencil has a firm white eraser and is a fine choice for general use in and out of the office.
In the first half of the 20th century, Japanese pencils were labeled with their intended use because of regulations set to monitor the prices pencils were being sold for. Pencils designated for certain uses were meant to have certain characteristics and qualities that were consistent with other brands and reflected in their price. Though this isn't used anymore, the designations are still included in most pencil designs.
