General’s Semi-hex: The classic, American #2 pencil that has graced all kinds of desks for over a century. It’s made in Jersey City with fragrant cedar wood and excellent graphite. Made in the USA.
Staedtler Noris HB: The black and yellow stripes with the red endcap are synonymous with school days in many parts of Europe. It runs a little firm and will stay sharp for the duration of a test or lecture. Made in Germany.
Nataraj Ruby 621 HB: This iconic Indian pencil is made at the famous Hindustan factory that makes 8.5 million pencils a day. The Ruby had its own TV commercial in the 1970s, and continues to be a popular pencil in India and abroad. Made in India.
Staedtler Kakakata 2B: In Japan, the standard school pencil is not a #2/HB, but a softer 2B. This is supposed to help children with their penmanship, and they often come with colorful printed barrels. Made in Japan.
Mitsubishi Needlepoint 7700: This pencil combines hardness and pigmentation, making it perfect for grading papers. When Mitsubishi planned to stop production of the 7700 in 2015, the outcry was so strong that they continued to make it. Made in Japan.
Caran d’Ache Graphicolor: The yellow end highlights in neon and the black end writes in lovely Caran d’Ache HB graphite. All the tools you need to mark up a text, in a single pencil. Made in Switzerland.
