During WWII, metal supplies were completely cut off to the pencil industry and pencil makers in America had to come up with a different way to make ferrules so they made them out of plastic. Because of the capabilities to easily color plastic, Dixon chose green and yellow--colors that eventually became a defining feature of pencil.

The pencil you will receive will not necessarily be the one in the photo but definitely one from the same dozen. We've tried our best to accurately capture the quality of the pencil and promise not to sell you something of lesser quality.
