The Van Dyke was introduced in the 1930s as Eberhard Faber's premium drawing pencil (named after the Dutch painter Anthony van Dyck). Most pencil-users associate the EF flat ferrule with the Blackwing 602, but it was actually first introduced on this particular model of Van Dyke.
