The Try-Rex was America's first triangular pencil. Its beveled shape was patented by pencil maker Richard Best in the early 20th century, making it one of the less common pencil shapes out there.
Many other models of Richard Best pencils were once advertised as being Try-Rex shaped, but this pencil is the original. After Richard Best went out of business, J.R. Moon (now known as Moon Products) acquired the right to the Try-Rex and have been making it with integrity ever since.
This particular Try-Rex has a normal diameter and is a solid, dark, HB/#2 by American standards.
